Oneida Nation of the Thames awards pipeline construction contract
THE ONEIDA NATION OF THE THAMES has awarded a construction
Oneida Nation of the Thames
contract for a pipeline connection to Lake Huron’s water.
London, Ont.-based L82 Construction Limited was awarded
the contract for the project which will extend the Lake Huron
Primary Water Supply System (LHPWSS).
The Oneida Nation of the Thames entered into a water
supply agreement with LHPWSS in 2023 for a connection and
supply to the regional water system.
Construction of the off-settlement portion of the project
being undertaken by the regional water system was awarded by
the Board of Management for the Lake Huron Water Supply
System at their March 5, 2026, meeting, according to Andrew
Henry, the City of London’s director of regional water supply.
Construction of the off-settlement water transmission pipeline is expected to reach completion by spring 2027.
The project involves constructing an 18-kilometer pipeline to
link Oneida’s existing water system to the Lake Huron supply
near Mount Brydges. Additionally, the on-reserve distribution
system will be upgraded and expanded to ensure reliable access
to safe drinking water and improved fire protection.
