Hot Sector News
AS DEMAND FOR CRITICAL MINERALS skyrockets, driven primarily by the rise of
clean technologies, they are fast becoming the new oil industry.
Canada’s critical minerals sector—part of its broader mining and minerals economy—
directly and indirectly adds roughly $40 billion to the national GDP and supports over
109,000 jobs.
The sector features dozens of active extraction operations, backed by a multi-billiondollar project pipeline driving the global energy transition.
Canada is doubling down on critical minerals, with industries investing heavily to
accelerate projects and strengthen domestic supply chains. Earlier this month, the
federal government launched the Canada Critical Minerals Accelerator, a new initiative
designed to help move projects forward faster and attract investment.
But 昀椀nding the resource is often the easy part.

In today’s mining environment, success increasingly depends on how quickly a project
can move from planning and construction to stable, productive operations. Every delay
during ramp-up can mean lost revenue, higher costs and missed market opportunities,
especially as demand grows for the minerals needed to support electri昀椀cation, data
centres and energy infrastructure.
