Climate Risk Management Specialist
Promotion in Terrapex Team
Arcadis has announced new leadership within its Western
Canada o昀케ce for environmental management practices,
including Sahar Safaie, Disaster and Climate Risk
Management Specialist.
Terrapex announced the promotion of Ivy Liu
to the position of Manager, Environmental Risk
Assessment in its Ottawa o昀케ce. Liu has over 15 years
of environmental consulting experience in the delivery
of human health and ecological risk assessments across
Canada under both the Ontario “Brown昀椀elds” (O. Reg.
153/04) and federal frameworks.
Building upon nearly 20 years of experience in climate and disaster
risk assessment, disaster risk reduction, and climate adaptation, Safaie has led
the design and development of three United Nations guidelines on national risk
assessments and disaster risk reduction strategies, bridging her technical expertise
with policy and governance challenges at the global level.
Previously, Safaie founded Sage On Earth Consulting where she led local,
provincial, and international projects. Most recently, Sahar served as the
Technical and Project Lead for British Columbia’s Disaster and Climate Risk and
Resilience Assessment (DCRRA), leading a team of over 20 experts in designing
and delivering a systemic risk assessment framework.
Arcadis has 20 o昀케ces across Canada, with experts specializing in architecture
and urbanism, asset management, design and engineering, digital environmental
health safety and sustainability, environmental restoration, and more.
A recognized Quali昀椀ed Person for Risk Assessment (QPRA) and Professional
Geoscientist (P.Geo.) in Ontario, Liu has a commendable track record in
successfully advancing risk-based strategies to enable bene昀椀cial redevelopment
and reuse of brown昀椀elds sites and contaminated properties, ensuring protection
of human health and the environment while unlocking land value.
